Rembulan Lombok

Situated in the idyllic and unspoilt south west peninsular of Lombok Villa Rembulan offers the chance to genuinely ‘get away from it all’ whilst at the same time experiencing luxurious surroundings.

Villa Rembulan is situated in a sweeping bay just 50 metres from its own beach. Just offshore lie small, unspoilt desert islands surrounded by coral just waiting to be explored in the traditional boat that is available to rent. The villa is set in beautiful tropical gardens planted with scent colour and butterflies in mind. This is first and foremost a fantastic place to do absolutely nothing. Simply lap up the tropical atmosphere and recharge your batteries.

Living and Dining

The spacious living area has a casual and relaxed atmosphere where guests can entertain or just relax and gaze at the ocean. The room boasts two large French windows that open out onto the verandah affording guests the opportunity to take in magnificent views of the ocean and tropical mountains from the comfort of your rattan chairs and sofas.

The living and dining area also includes a satellite tv, dvd player and CD system. It also comes equipped with a microwave oven, toaster and refrigerator.

En-suite Bedrooms

Imagine waking up each morning and looking up into the thatched eves of the ceiling and then pulling back the curtains of the enormous french windows to reveal a panoramic view of the ocean just 40m from the villa.

Villa Rembulan has 2 air-conditioned double en-suite bedrooms. The bedrooms are spacious and offer large king sized beds with mosquito nets, red teak wooden floors and are tastefully decorated in mustard and jade colours. The two rooms have french doors that open out onto the balcony which runs along three sides of the house and boasts spectacular views of the sea and gardens.The main bedroom also has French doors that open out onto the verandah.

Kitchen

Villa Rembulan offers basic cooking facilities within the living and dining area. Main meals can be prepared by your own personal cooks in a separate kitchen house just 50 metres from the villa and will be delivered to your table.

The cook are able to cook tasty traditional local dishes which we would recommend. However, western food can also be prepared to cater for children or those without an exotic pallet. Food is bought fresh and, where possible, is grown in the gardens. Local fishermen bring the nights catch to the door in the morning – check out the king prawns and squid!!

Verandah

The view from this stunning villa is ‘to die for’. Set on a small hill above the beach, Rembulans’ 3m wide verandah looks out to sea with views of sand fringed islands and Mount Rinjani. Comprising two stylish bedrooms each with its own luxury bathroom and opening onto the veranda.

Pool area

If you don't fancy a dip in the ocean then perhaps lounging by your own private pool is the answer. The large pool is set just a few metres to the rear of the villa and can be accessed via a path planted on either side with tropical trees and flowers

The pool is a tasteful moss green and offers fantastic views of the sea. At it's deepest the pool is 1.8 metres. The kids won't feel left out as there is an large area in the pool to safely paddle in.

There is plenty of room to sunbathe too and umbrellas offer welcoming shade. A small traditional hut provides the perfect place to sit and enjoy a glass or two. Around the pool are many flowers amd plants illuding to a tropical paradise.

Gardens

The villa is set in it's own private little eden brimming with tropical flowers and fruit. Brightly coloured hibiscus, palms and lemon trees create your very own tropical paradise.Special care and attention has been taken to plant flowers that attract butterflies and other beautiful wildlife.

Fruit such as lemons, cashew nuts, pinapples, papaya and bananas are readily available to pick from the myriad of trees surrounding the garden. A patio area to the rear of the villa can be reached via a stunning wooden pagoda planted with jasmin, acamanda and other climbing plants.

The Beach

A little over 50 metres from the verandah is a beach from which you can swim safely in the still shallow water. You may choose to stroll up the deserted beach 1 or 2 kilometres passing the odd fisherman bringing in his catch. In the evening you can sit and enjoy a glass of wine or two and watch the tropical night envelope the still waters and listen to the sound of the cicadas. You will also find the traditionalboat moored here should you wish to use it for a small charge.

Boat

A boatis available for rent and awaits on the beach to take you off island hopping, fishing or just out onto the open bay for a spot of sunbathing. Take a picnic and maroon yourself on one of the islands from which you can snorkel over crystal clear water and coral every bit as impressive as the Gili reefs to the north - but don't tell anyone, it's so quiet and tranquil that we treat it as our own private reef.

Staff

A friendly staff of 8 will be available to meet your every need during your stay at Villa Rembulan. From the moment you arrive in Lombok, hosts Yophie and corrie will welcome you and transport you to the villa.

Two cooks can prepare your meals in a seperate annexe and bring across for you to eat in the dining area or out on the verandah. Two gardeners tend to the flowers and fruit trees and two maintenance staff also cover security.

Our staff have been trained to be sensitive to your need for privacy. The villa and gardens are your space and this will be respected. However, the staff are remarkeby friendly and will chat to you to find out your requirements.

Yophie & Corrie - villa hosts
Upon your arrival in Lombok you will be welcomed by Yophie and Corrie who both speak excellent english. They have a wealth on the local area and they are very good company. Yophie and Corrie are husband and wife and we have known them for 10 years. They are originally from Timor (the island closest to Australia) and are part of the very small Christian minority in Lombok. They are here as your main points of contact and chief “fixers”. We’re sure you’ll find them to be genial and helpful hosts.
Magdelana & Veronica - cooks / housekeepers
These ladies are known to us as the “aunties” as they are part of Yophie’s extended family. The aunties are your cooks and housekeepers. You will find them to be friendly but shy. We think that they cook the best food in Indonesia! On your arrival they will greet you to find out what you like to eat to ensure you get what you just that as well as offer you a taste of the local cuisine. They purchase only fresh ingredients including fish caught in the bay by the local fisherman the night before.

Herman & Beni - gardeners / security
Herman and Beni tend to the garden and pool area as well as looking after the general security of the villa. Herman is our gardener and security man – always friendly and a good chap to have around. Beni is Yophie’s uncle and Gandi-lookalike. Another useful man – always happy, unless the others are pulling his leg!

Arif - maintenance
Arif comes from Bima on Sumbawa Island. He left school in 2000 after studying building so he’s very useful to us as an odd job man. He enjoys working here and you will find he has a ready, though shy, smile. He has a girlfriend in Ampenan and sees her as often as is possible.
Ondeng - Handyman
Is 22 years old and has just left high school where he was studying marketing. He is interested in entering the tourist industry and this job is his first step. He is learning English so would love to practice his English speaking with you!
Security
Indonesians are by nature an extremely friendly, welcoming people. Villa Pao Pao is situated in a very rural, quiet and safe part of Lombok Many people who have stayed in the villa have left the doors open at night and felt absolutely safe. We have been travelling to Lombok for over 15 years so know the area and it's people very well. Our gardeners also act as our security and are there to keep an eye on the villa when it is empty and for peace of mind of our guests.
